Rules and Regulations

1. All players must conduct themselves in a sportsman-like manner. Loud or offensive language will not be tolerated.

2. Don’t lean on, sit on or strike the tables. Purposeful damage to the Club’s equipment may result in expulsion and loss of membership.

3. All school gymnasium rules will be enforced, such as no food or drink in open containers. No gambling, weapons, alcohol or smoking allowed. No street shoes to be allowed in the gymnasium.

4. All players will cooperate in setting up tables. It is mandatory that the table be set up by two players to avoid any damage to the equipment and the floor.

5. The last players must return tables to storage. The tables must be carried or carefully rolled, not dragged. Tables must be stacked vertically as indicated on diagram in storage area. Players should also help in cleaning up the gymnasium before leaving.

6. The Laws of Table Tennis published by USATT will govern all games.

7. In case of disputes, seek help from any Club officer present in the gymnasium.

8. If all tables are occupied, a challenger may place a paddle to the desired table to indicate to the players that this match has been challenged. At this time, if the occupying players are not presently playing a match, they must begin a best of five game match to 11 points immediately or surrender the table to the challenger. The winner of the match will play the challenger.

9. The TWO MATCH RULE goes into effect at a table when there are two or more challengers at the table at the beginning of a match. The winner of 2 consecutive matches and the loser must both vacate the table and the first two challengers then play. The rule remains in effect as long as there are two challengers in place at the beginning of a match.

10. Warm-up time is limited to 3 minutes when there is a challenger at the table. If two players elect to practice instead of playing a match, both must vacate the table after 15 minutes. If there is only one challenger, one player will stay.

11. Articles such as clothing, sports bags, backpacks etc. are not to be placed under tables so as to avoid confusion. Only challenger paddles should be under tables.

12. A let will be called when a stray ball enters your court. Players should have the courtesy of picking up stray balls and returning them to where they belong.

13. Players should avoid unnecessarily passing through a playing area in use.

14. The Club has the right to assign certain number of tables for Club tournament or special events. Proper notice will be displayed on the bulletin board.

15. The Board and its officers are authorized to enforce Rules and Regulations of the Club.

16. Neither the Club nor its officers or committee members shall be liable for loss of property, or injury to any club members, visitors, or guests.

17. No gluing of paddles and rubber sheets is permitted inside the gymnasium.

18. All children on the gymnasium floor must be under parent or guardian super- vision at all times. Table tennis is a fast and dynamic sport. Parents and/or guardians are responsible for the safety of their children and must not allow their children wandering or running loose on the gymnasium floor during club play.

The above Rules and Regulations have been adopted by the Board members at the February 2002 Board meeting and amended on September 14, 2002.
